We awoke just after 08:00 today, shortly before the helicopter parked outside our window took off—only in Alaska right? It was cool to see but really loud. It was a good night sleep with another lazy morning. We grabbed breakfast at the on site restaurant, gassed up and got on the road at about 11:30 since we didn't have too far to go. It was a beautiful, scenic drive that went past a glacier and through more mountains; it was also our first day without any precipitation. We got into Anchorage at 15:30, checked into our hotel where we'll be for the next two nights, ran some errands like returning stuff to Fred Meyer and washing the car, then got dinner at the Spendard Roadhouse. It seemed like a hip, local place and had a friendly feel. Now we're doing some laundry while watching TV and just relaxing. I'm very glad we will have one down day before heading home.
Mt. Drum in the distance. On a clear day, you can see several peaks in the Wrangell range.

There are more dandelions in Alaska than any other flower right now.
