A Little About Me
Take It Easy

Get up from the donation bed only when you feel up to it. There is no pressure to leave immediately. The most important thing is that you feel well enough to get up, less you pass out on the way to the snack table. Especially if you have gone into shock, stay lying down a few extra minutes to allow your body to recuperate.

The technician will supply you with a list of post donation instructions, including:

  • Do not smoke for at least 30 minutes.
  • Consume plenty of non-caffeinated fluids for the next 24 hours.
  • Avoid heavy lifting for at least 6 hours.
  • If you feel lightheaded or dizzy, lie down immediately.
  • If a bruise develops, apply a cold compress or ice to the area every 4 hours for 15 minutes.
