Rewarding
Giving blood is a very rewarding experience; it's a great feeling knowing that you've helped to save lives. Additionally, the donor receives a lot of benefits from the donation process. Beginning with the free mini-physical, it's a great way to make sure your blood pressure and iron levels are on track. Especially for women, knowing whether or not you're anemic is a great reward. There have also been studies indicating that by donating blood, you help to rid your body of excess iron build up.
And just about every time I have donated blood, I've received a free t-shirt. They are always extra large and white so they're good for working out or doing chores in. And if you don't want the shirt, you can at least donate it to Good Will.
If you donate blood at a company blood drive, it gets you out of work for an hour or so. And let's not forget that after donating, there are always free snacks. Usually, there is punch and cookies or crackers, but sometimes, like at large blood drives, there will be sponsored food such as pizza. You can't beat a free lunch. |
